Well Yellow There

Ok, so I went ahead and painted that closet door yellow.
I used Benjamin Moore Bright Yellow in a pearl finish. I bet some of you are sick of this same view of my house. I realize that I keep posting pictures of my staircase and that must be boring.

So here it is from another view. My kitchen is not usually this tidy, but I spruced things up a bit so I could take this wide shot without horrifying anyone.

On the one hand this door is like, hey, everybody look at me, but at the same time it also sort of strangely blends in and is all, don't mind me, I'm just a yellow door among all that other colored shit.

I have to say that I do like it, even though I'm aware that it is a bit expected. Would it be better in a lime green or a soft turquoise blue? It is also looking a little more orange here than it does in real life, btw.

We're gonna live together for a bit and see how things go.

Here's a before and after shot just for fun.

Great improvement. So much more fun than a visible - invisible door.

My sofa is from restoration hardware. I took the roller feet off so that it wasn't so high compared to the other sofa I have in there. I L O V E it. I did wait until a sale to buy it though because it was expensive. It seats like a million people and it is wide enough so that two people can lie side by side lengthwise to watch tv and I feel like the thing will outlive me so money well spent, I say. -Caitlin

So I couldn't help myself from looking at your blog after I read your ORC and I'm LOVING this yellow door! It's absolutely brilliant. You have a great home. Love the open floor plan.

I think it's perfect Caitlin! You have a beautiful home! And love that there's a bits of unexpectedness in it!

Thanks Elisa. I think the trend is swinging the other way now, with people wanting separate kitchens and living areas again but I so love having it open this way (although there is NO hiding a messy kitchen -which it is most of the time!) -Caitlin

I love love love the yellow door. SO fun. And if in a year you tire of it, bam, it can be red or chartreuse or cobalt blue!
