One Room Challenge: The Shed -Week Three

So we are half-way there on the ORC....Time to get philosophical.

I've been spending a lot of time painting this little shed of mine which has given me ample opportunity to contemplate my design process in general and my shed design objectives specifically.

When I have a lot of disjointed design ideas dancing around in my head, sometimes I fall into the trap of defining things through a process of negation. I might say to myself, "I don't want it to be cute or cliche" or "I don't want a preppy, traditional look", etc.

Well, this is lazy thinking on my part. Ok, so sometimes I'm thinking this way because I don't know exactly where I'm going with an idea, but still I should be able to envision and state what I'm hoping to do without any of that "it's not that" business.

So I have been trying to nail down some concrete specifics about the feel of the space I'm creating.
*cozy, masculine and warm.
*Raw wood, warm gray, glossy black, leather, with yellow and red highlights.
*Rich, mismatched textiles.

Oh, and one other thing....Did I mention that I'm on a serious budget? Like, spend as little as you can to get this done? I'm rejiggering and repurposing like crazy and plan to throw in one trip to Ikea for some cessories.

Be sure to check out the linking party over at Calling it Home. Lots of great stuff happening there.

Need to catch up? ORC: Week One is here. ORC: Week Two, here.

Painting can be so time consuming, but totally worth it! I'm sure it's looking great.

Can't wait to see what you do!

You had a lot to paint, and paint again. Hang in there. It's an outdoor space, so it would be smart of you to repurpose most things.

You should be working on a budget for a shed, and that's why I am so giddy about your re-do for this space! You already know what you want, so hopefully you can work with most of what you already have! Good luck!
