In Process: Painted Blocks

Ever since I painted that ax handle for Oliver, I've been wanting to make stuff -like objects. After shying away from wood for a looong time, I've been chopping up stuff and painting it in an almost obsessive manner. I'm making a tabletop brancusi block tower out of painted, salvaged wood. This has been highly satisfying

As some of you may know, before I had children I was a furniture maker. By the time I finished my MFA in furniture design (at RISD), I had sworn off wood as a fun medium. I couldn't stand how long it took to bring an idea into fruition with wood. So this is sort of a strange full circle for me, this working with salvaged wood business. Not sure where this will lead, if anywhere but I sure am having fun for now.

I love the idea of this sculpture you're building! Love Brancusi and wish I had your wood expertise!
