Finished in the Master Bath

Yahoo! I'm finished with my master bathroom overhaul.

Aside from adding a little glass shelf, and adding the lath paneling to the shower stall, everything is pretty much exactly the same, just completely refurbished.

Meaning that I refinished the teak tub and sink surround and repainted the walls and the trim. Sounds really simple but it took me two and a half months all told to finish this sucker.

The walls are Benjamin Moore, Silver Crest in eggshell.

I chose a satin finish spar varnish to seal the teak. It is slightly less shiny than the previous finish which is my preference.  I find that if a wood finish is too glossy, it looks super plastic-y and dated (in a bad way) -like those burl tree stump coffee tables with the poured on finish from the 70's and 80's. Super glossy on natural wood is only good if it is a french polish, which is a different story altogether.

I did a lot of work on the sink surround to remove some dings and water marks. It's not flawless but still pretty good. You can see that post here.

The shelf is from Restoration Hardware, the sutton line, I believe.

The previous finish lasted about 5 years before it broke down. I'm trying to be more careful now with the new finish, like not leaving bars of soap sitting on the wood overnight and such. I know wood is not the most practical for a bathroom, but I do like the way it looks so I guess it's worth it for me.

It's absolutely stunning. I don't care how high maintenance it is, this will so be my dream bath one day when I have my dream home. That tub and sink just make me melt

This bathroom is ridiculously amazing. We did wood in our guest bath (and love it) and I really love how you even have a teak tub surround! Worth it.

Splendid ! The wood plus your natural light coming from your big window of the side of the tub and the one that is showering from above your shower all this combination bring a warm feeling to your bathroom as most are usually just plain "cold " looking ! Well done again !
