One Room Challenge: Week Four -Upstairs Landing

We're over the hump in the One Room Challenge. That's right, only two more weeks to pull everything together. Yikes!

It's time to talk about tushes. Yes, butts.

You see, I'm trying to repurpose some furniture that I have in the house. And while this chair might not look so bad from this angle…

…It's terrible from this one.  This is a leftover piece from a PB sectional I had in my old house that I'd love to be able to use in this hallway, at least for now. But Jen Selter it is not.

I mean, terrible on a slipper chair,  but definitely great on her.

So what to do? I don't like the  scale of this chair enough to take the time to hack off the butt (not that I'm even sure I could do that without complete and utter ruinment) so I've been deluding myself into believing that I can majorly improve it by beefing up and recovering the cushion in something great and maybe throwing a folded blanket over its butt back.

I am in love with this chair by Ariele Alasko. I'm inspired by the rough linen and black graphics. I think it is its perfectly imperfect quality that I like so much. So I might try something in this vein, depending on what I manage to snatch up at my favorite discount fabric store.  This should be fun, I'm looking forward to it but I definitely need to get busy!

As always, thanks for checking in. To see all the linking greatness over at Calling it Home click here.

Yeah, I think a throw could work. Or maybe an oversized pillow to distract from the tush?

Such a great space, you could stick a bean bag there and it would look good!! Looking forward to seeing what you do next week!

I'm intrigued to see how this will turn out lol. My neighbors threw out a used stool that was similar to this without the back- for free. I didn't need it or even want it but it was free. My husband gave me the look so I never got to play with it.

,.. but I could've totally made it look good ;)

I'm hoping that next week I'll have the chair finished, I bought some fabric today that I can't wait to get sewing. -Caitlin

What is it about free stuff? I am the same way. Yes I feel compelled to make this ugly chair not ugly. I guess it's a bit like charlie brown's christmas tree. ;)

I like big butts and I cannot lie! Sorry, thought of that song immediately. In this case, I do think a little camouflage would do wonders! :) Good luck!

Ha! Love your post and the inspirational Ariele A chair is just great. I think craigslist might be calling your name and then a linen reupholster session. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do.

I obsess over chairs in rooms, so I understand. Good luck with your transformation.
